Neutrality

Effective July 30, 2026 · Placement and ranking on homegrown are never for sale.

homegrown is a software layer for Kentucky's medical cannabis program. We are not a dispensary, a cultivator, a processor, or a courier. We hold no inventory, we set no prices, and we never take a patient's money for cannabis. That independence is the whole product, so we publish the rules rather than asking anyone to take our word for it.

Placement is never for sale

No operator can buy a higher position in search, discovery, a map, a match result, or any list on homegrown. There is no promoted slot, no bid, no pay-to-appear tier. 915 KAR 1:090 effectively bars paid rank in Kentucky, and we would hold this line regardless.

Ranking rules are published, not negotiated

Ordering is driven by disclosed, patient-side inputs: distance, availability as posted by the store, lab documentation on file, freshness of the data, and how well a listing matches what the patient asked for. The inputs are the same for a founding partner and a store that has never spoken to us.

Sponsorship exists only as labeled content

An operator may sponsor content; an education module, a grow-room feature, a batch story. When they do, the label says so, in plain language, adjacent to the content. Sponsorship never buys placement, ranking, a badge, a score, or a favorable description.

Patient data is not a product

We never expose individual-level patient data to a dispensary, a cultivator, or anyone else. Aggregate figures are suppressed below a minimum cohort of five people. We do not sell patient data, and we do not let a licensee buy visibility into a specific person's behavior.

What homegrown will never do

Charge for placement, rank, or inclusion in any list or map.
Accept a percentage of cannabis sales; our fees are flat and licensee-side.
Take a patient's money for cannabis, or touch a patient's card. The licensed dispensary is merchant of record on every transaction.
Set, discount, or influence the price of any product. Prices are shown as posted by the store, with a timestamp.
Hold, direct, or own inventory.
Employ or dispatch a courier. Under 915 KAR 1:080, delivery is operated by the dispensary using badged employees in unmarked, GPS-tracked vehicles.
Remove a legitimate patient report because an operator asked us to.

How we make money

Licensees pay a flat monthly software subscription per location, plus an optional flat technology fee per order, invoiced in arrears by ACH to the licensee. Nothing we charge scales with the price or volume of cannabis sold, so no product, brand, or store is ever worth more to us than another. There is no patient-side payment surface anywhere in this product.

If you believe a listing, ranking, or piece of content on homegrown violates this policy, write to neutrality@homegrownky.com. We answer every report and publish material corrections in the changelog.
