Frequently asked questions

Plain answers about the Kentucky program and what homegrown does; and does not; do.

Question 01

What is homegrown?

homegrown is a software layer for Kentucky's medical cannabis program. It helps certified patients learn, discover what licensed dispensaries have on the shelf, and send a request to a store. homegrown holds no inventory and sells nothing; the licensed dispensary is merchant of record on every transaction.

Question 02

Does homegrown sell cannabis?

No. homegrown is not a cannabis operator and never takes possession of product or payment. Every purchase happens with a licensed Kentucky dispensary.

Question 03

Do I need a Kentucky medical cannabis card to use homegrown?

You can read and learn without a card. To send a request to a dispensary, you need a valid Kentucky medical cannabis card, and the dispensary verifies it before it accepts anything.

Question 04

How do I get a Kentucky medical cannabis card?

A practitioner authorized by the Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis certifies you for a qualifying condition, then you apply to the state program. homegrown does not certify patients and is not part of the state application.

Question 05

Will homegrown tell me what product to use?

No. Nothing on homegrown is medical advice, and we make no efficacy claims. What you read here describes reported experience; what patients say; not a medical outcome. Your certifying practitioner and the dispensary pharmacist are the people to ask.

Question 06

What is Shelf Memory?

Shelf Memory is your private record of what you tried and what you thought of it. It is stored on your device by default so you can find something again later, at any store.

Question 07

What is The Match?

The Match is a short preference questionnaire covering format, aroma and potency. It narrows the catalogue to things that fit your stated preferences. It does not diagnose, treat or recommend.

Question 08

Can a dispensary see my personal information?

Only what is required to fulfill a request you chose to send them. homegrown never exposes individual-level patient data to dispensaries or cultivators for analytics, and any aggregate reporting suppresses cohorts smaller than five people.

Question 09

Can a business pay for better placement?

No. Neutrality is policy at homegrown. Placement, ranking and ordering are never for sale, and there is no advertising inventory.

Question 10

What is homegrown Verify?

homegrown Verify is our authorization and verification product; the mechanism that confirms a patient, dispensary or cultivator is who they say they are before they get access to role-specific tools.

Question 11

Where does menu information come from?

From menus that licensed Kentucky dispensaries already publish publicly, plus data an operator explicitly authorizes us to read. Availability can change at any moment; the store's own system is always the source of truth.

Question 12

Who operates homegrown?

Homegrown Technologies, LLC, a Kentucky company. The brand is written lowercase as homegrown; the formal entity name is used where the business itself is being referenced.

Not medical advice
homegrown provides education and discovery software. It makes no efficacy or medical claims. Talk to your certifying practitioner or a dispensary pharmacist about what is right for you.
